OUR HISTORY

THE RICEYS, FROM VALLONS TO COTEAUX, FROM CHAMPMARGOT TO CHIANVAL BY THE HERMITAGE,
THE NAMES OF THE FAMILY PLOTS SPARKLY.

OUR HISTORY

In the heart of the Côte des Bar, the village of Les Riceys welcomes you with its three villages: Ricey-Haut, Ricey-Haute-Rive and Ricey-Bas.
Its narrow and steep streets, lined with stone houses, its three churches and its many chapels make it an attractive and unique town.

Land of a long wine-growing tradition, Les Riceys is not only the largest terroir in Champagne, it is also the only commune in France to be able to produce three appellations of controlled origins: Champagne, Rosé des Riceys and Coteaux Champenois.

Located exclusively on the "finage" of Riceys, the estate is made up mainly of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties for the development of its Champagne but also for the unique « Vin Rosé des Riceys » known since Louis XIV.

Christophe Defrance, at the head of the vineyard since 1988, has changed winemaking techniques by combining know-how and a modern production system.
Today, insecticides, antibotrytis and herbicides are no longer used and all soils are cultivated mechanically for better respect for the environment and its biodiversity.

In a small, very typical sloping village street, an entrance stands out, with its pediment adorned with a curious metal vineyard sculpture that invites us to enter and discover the 16th century cellars for an unforgettable tasting.
